Sevilla 14.5.1 is available

[2011-06-02] Sevilla 14.5.1 is available for download. You can get it from the usual location.

The most interesting improvements are:

  • General: Added icons to menus.
  • General: Opening a .sev file while Sevilla is already running will no longer create a second Sevilla instance. It will instead open the second file in the already open version of Sevilla.
  • Installer: option to create an icon on the desktop.
  • Players and individuals: support for bitmap, portable network graphics (png) and graphics interchange format (gif) pictures added.
  • Absences: Added hotkeys for absence board result entry, and added extra hotkeys for board result entry.
  • Games: automatic calculation of board totals and game results from secondary scores is now optional. (A 3-5 result can now be a white win anyway). This must be switched off per game.
  • Games: games have three additional results. White draw (½-0), black draw (0-½), and loss (0-0). Forfeit versions of this already existed, but the usual versions are also useful, e.g. in cases where a mobile phone rings and the opponent has no mating possibilities, or where both players commit rules of offense (during the game).
  • Pairing: Bye choice "weakest with color" has been added (Swiss only).
  • Pairing: For Amsterdams, added code that no longer tends to prefer white for stronger players (lower player numbers) This was a bug.
  • Pairing: Fixed a situation where bad color choices were made, when pairing delay was used.
  • Pairing: implemented Swiss on rating change that lowest (remainder) groups must be paired as heterogeneous instead of homogeneous. This follows the update of the specification in 2009.
  • Pairing: added a fourth Swiss on rating implementation. This is an experimental one not recommended for common usage as it does not follow the pairing regulations as well as the 13.0 version.
  • Ranking routines were enhanced, to get rid of the previous position error in situations with no recalculation and percentual absence limits.
  • Ranking: Fixed bug that could limit ratings/tpr's if the base (own) value (rating/tpr) was 0. If the TPR difference was too big this could happen.
  • Ranking: Dynamic ratings were not correctly computed if an opponent had a not-reliable (or no) rating.
  • Ranking: Kallithea type Buchholz calculation.
  • Ranking: USCF type Buchholz calculation.
  • View: Added a menu option to view unfinished games.
  • Reporting: Mail multiple reports functionality has been implemented.
  • Reporting: Fixed bug causing empty round robin reports in some conditions to be badly filled.
  • Webtool: Game viewers (chess and draughts) can view variations (with clickable moves)
  • Webtool: Viewers can now process a set up position.
  • Tools: Added "optimize color" feature, modifying black/white assignments if this is preferable. (Maybe useful if pairing is done manually.)
  • Tools: Disabled "explain pairing" for pairing systems other than Swiss and Keizer (it doesn't make sense then).
  • Tools: PGN reports and PGN import can now also read PDN file extensions (for draughts).
  • Tools: Pairing explanation tool has now a dropdown for the playing round.
  • Import: Allow import of initials, correction and correction factor.
  • Import: Import settings now appends categories, periods, titles, etc. instead of replacing them. This formerly could cause corrupted settings.
  • Export: CSV dumps now allow additional data in games, boards and absences. The options have been rearranged over three tabs.
  • Misc: Updated the bzip2 dll to version 1.0.6. http://www.bzip.org.
